Technical Service Bulletins ( TSBs )

What is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) and why do I care?

 

Well, a TSB is issued from the manufacturer (Ford) to their dealership mechanics to report on common issues, and fixes for their vehicles.  So if a bunch of Mustangs are having a problem with their ECU, or brake rotors, Ford tracks those issues, investigates and issues a TSB so other mechanics know how to fix the problem right the first time. 

 

If you are a shade-tree mechanic or just a concerned Mustang owner, you will want to be familiar with the TSB’s for your Mustang.  A lot of times the recalls will also be listed in the TSB text and tip you off to anything that may be covered by Ford. 

 

Here is the inside scoop, TSB data is all over the web, but it’s typically only the TSB title and a brief summary.  You have to pay for the full details.  While valuable, I would suggest you kill two birds with one stone and get a subscription to ALLData which will give you TSBs, Recalls, Repair Instructions and even Labor Guides for most vehicles.  This will give you the most information for fixing or just owning your Ford Mustang.
